There are several options to reach Santa Teresa, each at different price points. Please note that much of Costa Rica, including the Nicoya Peninsula, is a rural jungle environment, so weather delays, closed roads, and other mishaps are common. It’s a great opportunity to practice going with the flow!
Option 1: Fly to Cobano airport from SJO with Green Airways. First, fly into San José International Airport, then book a short domestic flight to Cobano. From Cobano, a shuttle will pick you up and bring you to House of Shakti.
Option 2: Book a private or shared shuttle from San José International Airport (~6 hours travel including ferry) or Liberia International Airport (~5 hours travel) directly to House of Shakti.
Option 3: Bus travel.
Option 4: Rent a car at San José Airport and drive to Santa Teresa yourself, allowing flexibility to explore along the way.
We can assist you in planning your trip!

During these moments, you can choose to book a one-on-one coaching session with Tati or Lore, or a private yoga session with Maddy. Each 45-minute session is offered at a special retreat rate of $75, giving you the perfect opportunity to connect closely with us. 11. What if I can’t swim?
Our program is thoughtfully designed with water as a key element. Every activity is carefully planned to gently push you out of your comfort zone, working closely with one of nature’s most powerful forces: the ocean. The schedule has been created with great care, and full participation in all activities is recommended to get the full retreat experience. Therefore, this retreat is not recommended for those who cannot swim.
12. What happens if the weather is bad?
The weather is out of our control. All activities planned within the retreat center are independent of the weather. For surfing and diving we have do adjust to whatever the nature offers us. We have some flexibility in the schedule to rearrange activities and plan according to the weather. In case surfing or diving cannot take place (worst case!), we’ll make sure to offer an equivalent replacement activity.
13. Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance is strongly recommended for all participants, but not included in the retreat price. We recommend to foresee your own travel insurance.
14. Is prior experience needed for surfing, diving, yoga, or breathwork?
No prior experience is needed for any of the planned activities. You can be a total rookie when it comes to both diving and surfing. If you do have experience, mention it in the booking form. We can’t guarantee changes, but we’ll do our best to explore the options.
15. What if I already have diving or surf experience?
If you already have diving or surfing experience, please let us know during booking. The participation in the introductory sessions for both, diving and surfing, are nonetheless required to make sure we can offer you safe experiences. And refreshing existing knowledge always is a good idea, no? :)
16. What type of food is served during the retreat?
Our meals are prepared by our chef, Lore, who trained at culinary school in Ghent, Belgium. She specializes in homemade dishes prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients and plenty of herbs. We support local suppliers and use regional products. During the retreat, our menu will highlight vegetables and fish, with no meat served.
During booking, please let us know if you are vegetarian, vegan, or have any intolerances or allergies. We do our best to accommodate these, but we cannot guarantee complete cross-contamination prevention.
